Description
Be inspired by genealogy, military and historical references, special events such as birthdays and anniversaries, and create a collage to portray an artistic and personal story. Gather photographs, certificates, embellishments and dimensional artifacts to name a few, and collage them to tell a story about a meaningful event or memory. This is a mixed media class that will include samples and step by step instruction to guide you through your creation.
Supply List:
Canvas – (your choice of size, a good suggestion is 16”x20”)
Acrylic Paint: use what you have, but my favorite paint for this project is Sargent liquid metallic acrylic. (Can be purchased on Amazon).
Matte GEL medium (There is matte liquid OR gel medium and while you can use both, you will have better success with GEL in the overall outcome of your project.)
Collage Materials:
The first class will be spent learning how to collect your materials and print them out. The Venice Art Center will let us use their laser printer and I will also bring my own portable printer.
Scissors
A water container
1” and 2” flat brushes (not your best brushes)
If you desire a glossy finish, you will need some form of glossy varnish for a topcoat. You can decide that at the end.
