Pastel Fundamentals

PASTELS:
I use mostly Soft Pastels such as Sennelier or Terry Ludwig. NuPastels are the hard ones that I choose for the underpainting. The more that you have the better as color mixing is done with a variety of pastels. Be sure to have intense darks as well as some bright lights in your pastel box. Ordering a basic landscape or portrait set is a good option.
PAPER
UArt 400, Colorfix or Pastel Premier (not white), Canson
a board to support paper
sketch pad (and pencil)
OTHER ITEMS
Paper towels, gloves if you want them, baby wipes, masking tape, rubbing alcohol and your own photographs for reference.
