Description

Designed to teach you the in and outs of Gouache, one of the Art world’s most versatile mediums. It is simply Opaque Watercolor; that layers when you paint with it, much like your oil or acrylic or pastels do, and it mixes perfectly with your traditional watercolors too.
You will learn how to use Gouache both indoors and outdoors, you pick your favorite. This is this artists medium of choice for thumbnail sketches, and also loved when outdoors in plein air. They are particularly loved for urban sketching so to speak, and studies. Many gouache painting painted in the field are often used back in the studio as studies for large scale studio oil painting.
This class is designed to teach you how to use them both indoors and outdoors… in a small and simple set up. Also for all of you watercolor painters, this class will share with you how gouache can be added to your mix for exciting paintings. Karen Ann will work one on one with each student, along with the classroom group setting with demonstrations. Karen will be using traditional water based gouache paints. Along with demonstrating how you may use the acrylic version of gouache as your under painting. Basic color theory will also be used to help you with your color mixing.
The Supply list for the 2 day workshop is limited, simply so you may have all needed to start the class, Karen Ann will share with you how you can expand upon it too… Demonstrating her travel set up that works both In the studio or Outdoors. The goal is to get you ready to begin your own Gouache painting setups, as you create your own works of art in this very versatile medium.
