Description
This 3-day workshop, geared to intermediate to advanced students, will emphasize use of value studies to achieve
compelling compositions and explore approaches to color choice to help assure both harmony and impact of your
paintings. The course will include didactic presentation, demonstrations, practice exercises and individual exploration and painting.

• 1 Palette (must have wells for each paint color, a large mixing area and a lid)
Two examples that work well: John Pike Palette or a Tom Lynch Palette.
• Paint
You will need the following colors:
o Cadmium yellow light or aureolin
o Cadmium red medium
o Alizarin crimson or permanent rose
o Phthalo green (also sold by Winsor Newton as Winsor Green)
o Phthalo blue (also sold by Winsor Newton as Winsor Blue)
o Ultramarine blue
I will likely use burnt sienna or burnt umber as part of my mix when doing value studies, and you might wish to have one of these available.
