Description
This workshop is for those who have taken watercolor painting classes before and are familiar with the medium. The first day is dedicated to scenery, the second day is about scenery with man-made objects.
MATERIALS LIST FOR AUGUSTO ARGANDOÑA’S WATERCOLOR WORKSHOPS
PAPER
140 lb. Arches cold press bright white, ¼ sheet minimum size ( larger sizes are optional )
The paper must be stretched and attached with staples, or masking tape over a Gator Board, or another surface, or in a block form minimum size 16”x20”. Optional papers could be Fabriano, Windsor & newton, or other good quality paper.
NOTE : The quality of the paper is very important for the success of your experience in my workshops.
BRUSHES
Most likely participants will already have brushes . Like with the paper, Quality makes a big diference.
You will need a 1” flat, ½ “ flat, Round brushes numbers 12, or 10, also a number 6 or 4.
PIGMENTS
I use Windsor & Newton, as well as Daniel Smith pigments ( optional brands are Holbein, Mission )
cheap brands produce bad results.
Colors you will see me use are: Ultramarine Blue, Cobalt Blue, Manganesse Blue, Cerulean Blue, Aureolin yellow, Raw Sienna, Raw Umber, Burnt Umber, Burnt Sienna, Sepia, Paynes Gray, ( Daniel Smith Undersea Green ), Yellow Ocher, Permanent Sap Green, Brown Madder. Rose Madder, I may use other colors, but the above list includes what I use the most.
PALETTE
Palettes are a personal preference , DO NOT USE small round palettes with minimal size wells and mixing surfaces
You may need a pcket knife or onother item with a sharp edge ( old credit cards work well ).
The VAC has paper towels , but if you prefer the kitchen type , bring your own, the VAC may also have containers for water, but again if your prefer your own container, bring it with you.
NOTE:
DO NOT OVER HANDLE THE PAPER…. keep it protected In transit and remember that hand creams or lotions and watercolor paper do not mix so make sure your hands are free of these items, also NEVER use soap of any kind to clean watercolor brushes or the palette.
