Description
Complete a series of projects that systematically build skills and excitement about this powerful artistic
medium. Includes “painting with paper,” photo collage, abstract compositions with mixed media textural
papers, working with 3D and stitched elements. Discover new ideas and techniques as you explore and
play with possibility.
Bring to first class:
–notebook and pen
–scissors (ideally small enough to cut small images)
–glue sticks (bring 2-3 if possible since they dry out)
–heavy paper (eg watercolor or mixed media paper, any size you have
–several pieces of cardboard or stretched canvas frame for backgrounds, about 8 x 11 but any relatively small size will do.
–blue painter’s tape—to hold your work down; can be lifted off without tearing
–OPTIONAL: gel (acrylic) medium (matte preferred, ModPodge is OK) and brush to apply. (You will want this for subsequent classes but won’t need the first day).
–OPTIONAL: set of markers if you have them
–OPTIONAL: exacto blade/craft knife and cutting mat if you have them
Instructor will supply a great variety of printed images for your use. A materials fee of $4.00 will be added to your class fee to cover this.
