Heather McCullough Supply List for Fall 2025 Mini-Session
“Composition and Color in Landscape Paintings”:
Cheap art supplies are not a bargain in the end. Purchase good-best quality and they will last longer and perform better. You can purchase from:
Michael’s
Hobby Lobby
Art and Frame (Sarasota)
Or by catalog or internet: Art Supplies | BLICK Art Materials, www.jerrysartarama.com and others

• 1 Palette (must have wells for each paint color, a large mixing area and a lid)
Two examples that are great: John Pike Palette  or a Tom Lynch Palette.
• Paint (professional brands like” Grumbacher, Winsor & Newton, Daniel Smith)
(For newbies: Grumbacher Academy or Winsor & Newton Cotman are brands of student-grade paint that come in smaller tubes and are less expensive and still acceptable.)
You will need the following colors:
o Cadmium yellow light or aureolin
o Cadmium red medium
o Alizarin crimson or permanent rose
o Phthalo green  (also sold by Winsor Newton as Winsor Green)
o Phthalo blue  (also sold by Winsor Newton as Winsor Blue)
o Ultramarine blue
In addition to the color work, I will also be using the following colors. You don’t have to purchase these, but you may get more out of the lessons if you have these to work with.
• Magenta
• Ultramarine Violet
• Cadmium Orange
• Cadmium Red-Orange
• Cobalt Turquoise
• Permanent Green Light
• Brushes-bring what you own
• Paper: 140 lb Arches Cold Pressed Paper
• Sketchbook with “regular” paper, not watercolor paper. (My favorite is AquaBee Super Deluxe Sketchbook)
• 1 pencil No. 2 or softer
• 1 kneaded eraser
• 1 wide, chisel edged magic marker
• Container for water, paper towels and a large piece of heavy cardboard (as support for your finished and possibly wet watercolor piece)
• Painter’s tape or bull dog clips
